Question: Ask the Rabbi - Is all kosher wine also kosher for Passover?
Dear Rabbi,
Does a wine have to read kosher for Passover to be able to use it for the Seder. Or can I use any kosher wine for the Passover Seder?
Thanks, Sam

Answer: Dear Sam,
Wine is an integral part of the Passover Seder. Four times (for the four expressions of freedom) during the Passover Seder meal, a blessing is made over wine and a cup of wine is consumed. In addition, it is a common practice to spill a small amount of wine or dip a finger into the wine glass ten times while reciting the Ten Plagues. Lastly, during the Seder a symbolic fifth cup of wine is poured for the Biblical Prophet Elijah.
Everyone participating in the Seder should either drink wine or grape juice.
One should use "kosher for Passover" wine for the Seder.
Best wishes,
Rabbi Dov
