Salmon Steak in Asian Sauce (Parve)

By Giora Shimoni, About.com

My friend Meira introduced me to this recipe for Salmon Steak in Asian Sauce, and my whole family is so glad she did. This fish dish is delicious, festive, and fairly simple and quick to prepare. For a healthy dinner, serve this moist, flavorful salmon with brown rice and salad.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon steaks, approximately 5 ounces (150 grams) each
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 carrot, cut into thin sticks
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup thick teriyaki sauce

Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit (180 degree Celsius).
2. Sprinkle fish lightly with salt and pepper. Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in a frying pan. Fry fish for a few minutes on each side. Remove from frying pan, and place in a single layer in a pyrex baking pan.
3. In the frying pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil. Add garlic, onion and carrot. Saute until the onion is translucent. Add the sweet chili and teriyaki sauces. Bring the sauce to a boil.
4. Put the sauce in a food processor and process until smooth. Pour the sauce over the fish in the pyrex.
5. Bake in preheated 350 degree Fahrenheit (180 degree Celsius) oven for 5-7 minutes.

YIELDS: 4 servings.
