Guide Review - Classic Kosher Cooking: Simply Delicious by Sara Finkel

Don’t judge this cookbook by its cover. While you might think at first glance that Sara Finkel’s Classic Kosher Cooking: Simply Delicious is just another book of basic kosher recipes, at second glance you will actually discover a comprehensive collection of quality, kosher recipes, wrapped in Finkel’s wise words and ways, that will inspire and enable you to prepare delicious every day and holiday meals for your family and guests.

Every time I open the book, I am greeted by another wonderful recipe – Eggplant Roulade, Honeyed Roast Beef with Sweet Potatoes, Tri-Colored Pashtida, Passover Coconut Cloud Cake. My family has discovered new treats (Parve Banana Cookie Ice Cream and Halvah Cake) and rediscovered old favorites (Baked Fish in Tomato Sauce).

Given Finkel’s decades of experience catering and cooking for 5-star hotels, her recipes are tried and tested. And given Rebbetzin Finkel’s decades of experience cooking for her large family and community, her recipes tend to be economical and practical.

In addition to the recipes, the book contains suggested menus, Jewish holiday summaries, and enlightening tidbits about health, cooking, serving and Jewish living.

As its title promises, Classic Kosher Cooking: Simply Delicious delivers winning recipes that work well for today’s kosher-observant family.
