These meatballs are baked in the oven, so they are quick and easy to prepare. My sister serves these meatballs as a Shabbat lunch appetizer. Thus the kids eat something filling and nutritious at the beginning of the meal, and you don't have to worry about calling them back to the table when they are busy playing!

Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons mushroom soup mix
- 2 squeezes ketchup
- 1 pound (500 gram) ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon onion soup mix
- 3 squeezes of ketchup
- 1/2 cup matzo meal ( more if you are having trouble getting the mixture to come together)
Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
2. At the bottom of a deep Pyrex bowl (preferably with a lid), mix together the water, mushroom soup mix and 2 squeezes of ketchup.
3. In another bowl, combine meat, egg, onion soup mix, 3 squeezes of ketchup and matzo meal. Work the mixture together with your hands.
4. Form the meatball mixture into balls (the size of golf balls) and place them into the Pyrex dish. Cover tightly with the lid or aluminum foil.
5. Cook in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) for 1 1/2 hours.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Serve hot over rice or pasta.
