At the Passover Seder, charoset is meant to look like and remind us of the mortar the Israelite slaves used in their building. This Traditional Italian Charoset, contributed by Frank Tamburello, contains dates, almonds, apples, raisins and orange juice. Frank generally doubles or even triples the recipe, as this charoset goes fast!

Ingredients:
- 12 oz. pitted dates
- 7 oz. slivered almonds
- 1/4 cup (small box) raisins
- 1 tart peeled apple
- 1/3 cup orange juice
Preparation:
1. Grind dates, almonds, raisins, and apple together.
2. Place haroset in a bowl and gradually stir in juice.
3. Cover and refrigerate.
